Thread: Movie Ideas for 10-12 year old boys

Default Movie Ideas for 10-12 year old boys

We are looking for some movie ideas for our boys. They like action/adventure type movies.

Here are some of the ones they have seen:
    Star Wars Saga
Lord of the Rings Trilogy (read the books first!)
A few of the Indiana Jones movies
    The Fugitive (with some fast-forwarding)

I don't mind a PG-13 rating as long as it is not for s*xual stuff. The Lord of the Rings movies were PG-13 but they knew the story already.

So what are some other good ideas?

ETA: You mentioned action/adventure - I'll highlight those in blue

    Willow - is wonderful - *

Not sure if you will like these, but we did ...
    Miracle
    October Sky
    Who Shot Liberty Valance
    Rudy
Treasure Island - one of the old, original classics
    Magnificent Seven
Indian in the Cupboard - maybe too cute-ish and childish
Paulie - ditto on the childish
    Iron Giant
    High Noon
    White Fang
    Alaska
Sky High - not sure if you'll like this
    Duma - very, very nice
    Night at the Museum
Karate Kid - might have some inappropriate language ... I guess we're more liberal than many - our dc are exposed to more foul language every time we go downtown ... movies are actually quite mild.
    Indiana Jones Movies
My Bodyguard - 80s movie, very good about bullying, etc. - may have some inappropriate language
    Swiss Family Robinson
    Robinson Crusoe
    Shiloh
    Short Circuit
    Wall-E
    Secondhand Lions
    Remember the Titans
    Robin Hood
    The Incredibles

I'm sure others will have plenty of recommendations ...

My dc have enjoyed many of these.

They (the two oldest) also recently watched Prince of Persia and liked it a lot. Definitely action/adventure!

Some that we've really enjoyed (some are repeats/already mentioned); please note that we're pretty open-minded about watching movies so what may work for our family may not work for yours (most of the ones I've listed are PG-13):

Raiders of the Lost Ark (my very favorite of all time; didn't care for the sequels)
The Bourne Identity (whole series is good, but the 1st one is most likely to appeal to kids)
The Curse of the Black Pearl (1st Pirates of the Caribbean movie; we didn't care for the sequels)
Iron Man (1st one; does have a risque scene or two; didn't like the sequel)
    Prince of Persia
Robin Hood (version w/ Russell Crowe)
    LotR series
The A-Team (pretty violent/some strong language, but still PG-13; pretty funny, though)
Star Trek (maybe not a 'traditional' action/adventure, but a great movie; I loved this one)
Harry Potter movies (not really 'action/adventure', but great movies anyway)
    The Last Airbender
Batman Begins (can be kind of scary)
    Spiderman
    Transformers
    Casino Royale
    Ocean's Eleven
    old James Bond movies (maybe)
    Up (funny adventure movie)
    True Grit
Night at the Museum (maybe not 'action/adventure', but very fun; didn't care for the sequel)
