Thread: FIAR without Fold n' Learns?

  1. Default FIAR without Fold n' Learns?

Dare I ask if anyone uses FIAR without fold & learns or lapbooks? My daughters are just not that excited about them, no matter how many times I try to make them amazing, they'd rather simply do the lessons from the guide and go off on their own rabbit trails.

I guess I am just looking for others out there who find peace and happiness AND oodles of learning without the fold & learns or lapbooks ... are we missing out on way too much?

    Thanks for sharing!

Lots and lots and lots and lots of people do FIAR without lapbooks, Fold-n-Learns, lapbooking, etc. I'm one of them.

No lapbooks here, or fold-n-learns. My daughter loves books, and will just about stretch to colouring, sometimes, but sitting still for something like a lapbook is NOT her idea of a good time. We could be reading another story, you know. Or pretending to be drudges, or princesses, or pirates, or little girls who have lost their mother, or students in a boarding school...you get the idea. Or playing with rope, of course.

Another no lapbook family here! We've done them in the past, they are just too much work for me, and the benefits are not that grand for us.

    Non of that here either.
Though we do do pieces of some of the lapbooks found at HSS. But only when we find them especially interesting and then place them in dd's notebook.
But we tried a fold-n-learn once. Total bust for us.

I only do lapbooks when my middle dd asks to do them. If she's not interested, we don't do them. Most weeks we do use some of the printouts at homeschoolshare.com and simply attach them to our notebook pages.

We don't do lapbooks either. We have done a couple in the past, but it is not a normal thing for us.

    .
We do have a 3-ring binder similar to what Jane describes in the Volume1 manual and we keep any papers in there.

Well I surely feel much better. Thank you so much! I love the manual as-is so much and find it to be plenty, especially when it sparks such curiosity in my girls.

Maybe my boys will fall head-over-heels for lapbooks.

    Hi Erin Kate,
here I am again! I just thought I'd give my 2¢ worth on this topic also. You most definitely will not miss anything by not doing a lapbook or journal. FIAR is complete without any extras! Love it.
