My 13yo LOVES this program. My 11yo daughter cannot WAIT till it's her turn.

You watch the teacher talk about various aspects of story. You read the text (I read to my son), you read aloud excerpts from books that go with what he talked about for the day and then do the workbook page that matches that day's lesson.

He's just beginning to frame his story now that he has a bunch of elements. We've both learned a lot and it's really cool to see how the stories my kids love fit with the things he tells us.

This is a winner at our house because it gives boundaries on creating a great story. Adventure novels include everything from historical fiction to pirates to spiderman and beyond. I bet somewhere in there all of our kids read adventure novels.

thanks for bringing this up.I have never heard of it. I borrowed the demo dvd from my friend and it looks awesome.

Then I checked out the website and saw the price. is it worth that much?

Maybe it would be worth it, my two older students love to write, and adventure seems to capture their attention... but that price I have a hard time paying that much for one subject.

Actually, it really is. I know it seems pricey and it is. BUT, I will say it is worth every penny. The author spent a lot of time putting this together and it is well thought out and has a lot of content.

There is a video segment for each lesson that has two parts- an intro and the lesson. There is text that goes with the day's lesson. Work book pages for each one and readings he's pulled from other stories that illustrate the point for the day.

I imagine creating this in such a way as he did was quite time consuming and took much effort.

Just the discussions I've had with my teen during this process has been invaluable and worth the price.

The videos are DVDs so as long as you have a DVD player on your computer, you'll be able to view his lessons. They are not software that is format specific.
