Thread: Speaking of crocheting...

    Question Speaking of crocheting...

Katie & I taught ourselves how to crochet last year through a couple of DVD's we bought, as well as youtube videos & books. We made scarves for everyone in the family (made out of that really thick yarn that comes together quicker). We have also made little lizard-like bookmarks & a few flowers for Christmas ornaments. This was Christmas 2010 by the way. We have been slackers, definitely! Any idea of anything we can do next that would be fun to do together, but not so challenging as we dust off our skills? We learned to do chaining, single crochet, double crochet, half double crochet, and possibly a few more that I can't recall off hand. Also, it would be nice if it were something useful or something that would make a nice gift for someone. I don't want to be crocheting just for the sake of crocheting with no real goal in mind, KWIM?
    Thanks for any ideas!

Praying the Lord would help us to be the change we want to see reflected in our children.

If you have a local hospital, they enjoy receiving little hats for babies, and if there's a hospital with a NICU, the hats can be pretty small!

You could make lots of small granny squares http://www.youtube.com/results?searc...1891l1.3.5l9l0 and then put them together to make a lap afghan. You'd need a lot, but with several of you working on them, it shouldn't take too long. The granny squares I've always done only use chain stitches and double crochet. Make sure you ALL use the same size needle or the squares won't be the same size

Lionbrand.com has wonderful projects, some ministry-related and some not, that you can search based on skill level.

You have to register (free) then go to their pattern search, plug in your skill level, that you're interested in crochet, and whatever other questions, and it will suggest patterns.
