Thread: Copyright type question

    Default Copyright type question

I've been knitting for a number of years and am to the point when I look at a pattern, I find places where I would change it to make it better for me. I make notes, should I want to repeat the pattern.

If someone where to ask for the pattern of what I made, would there be copyright issues if I said something to the effect, at the beginning, "Adapted from pattern # _____ from Lion Brand".

Just curious because I am working on wristletts (fingerless gloves) that I've used a different weight yarn, changed the overall length of the item, added a few stitches, and changed how some of the rows are knit or purled.

FWIW - I haven't checked, yet, to see if the actual pattern is copy righted yet.

Can't imagine if you're sharing it. It's not like you're selling it. Kwim?

I would be most content if my children grew up to be the kind of people who think decorating consists mostly of building enough bookshelves.
