Thread: Purim!

    Default Purim!

This year Purim will be on March 8th. We've already invited my future dil to a party and I'm gathering my supplies. If you're interested in doing it with your family, here is a link to three articles about it on my old blog. We do the same things every year, but even my grown-up kids are excited about making noisemakers and crowns and baking Hamantashen cookies. We'll act out the whole story, which will be special fun with Rachel, my son's girlfriend.

Julie in Arizona has some ideas on her blog, too, which she might link if she sees this post......

    Have fun!!

Thanks for the reminder, Joy. Of course I got all my great ideas from you.

Well, our family just discussed it and we will be celebrating Purim for the first time. The kids are very excited! Of course the two girls are arguing over who should be Esther! Thanks for all the ideas!

So, Amy Joy, how did your celebration turn out?

We had such a good time!

It was great! They ended up doing the play for their dad and then for my ladies Bible study. Everyone loved it. We then passed out the chocolate filled hamantaschen cookies we made. My youngest son didn't want to eat them at first when we said they could also be called Haman's ears. It was pretty cute. The cookies were delicious!
It was a great review of a treasured story and reminder of Gods saving grace. Perhaps especially special to us due to their dad getting out of the hospital on Tuesday only to be readmitted (sicker) yesterday. We know who saves us and brings us through hard things!
