Talking A special favor to ask my FIAR family

    Friends,

My eldest daughter has been accepted at Patrick Henry College and will begin in the Fall. We are now in the middle of an all-out search for scholarships. She has so far achieved the status of National Merit Finalist (and we are awaiting word about whether she will be a winner), so that is very exciting.

We found a somewhat interesting scholarship on line which has required her to enter a profile including a lot of information about her accomplishments. The website is Zinch.com. She entered her profile in a category called Performing Arts. If you view her profile, you can click on MEDIA to see her performances and photos from some of her recent competitions and events.

With God’s favor, she has ended up in the top ten in her category (actually oscillating between 1st and 2nd place). The catch is she must end up in first place in her category to be able to be considered in the final round for the ultimate $20,000 scholarship. Although the final round will be judged on all her merits, this preliminary round is based solely (as far as we can tell) on the number of “votes” she can muster.

K has to work for every one she gets. We don't have a pool of fellow school students to pull from for votes.

Would you help us by voting for her and then passing this along to everyone you know and requesting that they do the same? The voting ends on March 9, so if you can help, please do so before then.

You will then be asked to create a free account which does not ask for very much information. You then have the option to vote for her.

I feel like her success thus far is a direct result of our FIAR life. Thank you.

    Red face

Jane and I have known Kimberly and her daughter Keaghan for nearly 15 years and I can commend them both to you as some of the very best that homeschooling has produced.

This type of thing is *NOT* something we normally allow on our forums because pretty soon everyone is wanting others to vote for something- often things that are pretty inconsequential.

But in THIS CASE, we want you to read over Keaghan's bio and see if you don't agree she's a very accomplished young woman who is indeed deserving of a scholarship.

I voted for her and hope you will too.

    Blessings,

Steve (who also listed this on my personal and the FIAR Facebook pages.)

Default She's back in first place!

Whoever is voting...I cannot thank you enough! She is back in first place!

For those visiting the site, you can click on her MEDIA tab and see some of her performances. There are recitations and piano recital pieces as well as photos of costuming from the plays.

Again, thank you to my FIAR family.

And Steve, you are a ROCK STAR my brother.
