Thread: what color curtains?

    Default what color curtains?

I am looking for some new curtains for a room which technically is considered a "living room" it has a sofa, but also has our computer desks, and schoolbook storage with floor to ceiling bookshelves. The sofa is brown with slight green tint. Walls are a light khaki color, trim is painted white. there is beige-ish colored carpet, which will be changing to wood floor in the future. I really have no color theme in this room at all. it's rather boring at this point. I have some black metal wallart hangings, and black metal curtain rods, with the kind that clip on. I'm planning on keeping those.

So what color curtains? I went shopping today and found a deep plum/purple... but put them up and they make the room too dark. I want something that isnt' sheer, but dont' necessarily need the light blocking kind either. Occasionally the pullout couch is used for guests to sleep on, so something to dim the morning sun would be ok.

    any suggestions?

My new favorite color for curtains is white! They brighten up a room soooo much! You could add splashes of color with throw pillows, colored lampshades or flowers in a vase. White duck or canvas would be casual enough for that room and not very expensive at all.

I like Melissa's idea. My first thought was cotton voile, but that might be too sheer--unless you put blinds/shades in the windows.
