We listened to Handel's "Music for the Royal Fireworks" today (on a CD we have here), and I got out some of our patriotic books to read aloud together (i.e. America: A Patriotic Primer and The Hatmaker's Sign). I'm hoping to get some watermelon and real lemons (to make lemonade), too, just for fun, and I've been looking for one of those flag Jello-molds (that, of course, I've seen in the past, but can't find now that I'm looking!)

We'll be BBQing burgers and hot dogs to eat along with potato salad, red white and blue fruit skewers and frozen yogurt pie... in Japan with African students! We did pick up some sparklers too and the younger dc are making some decorations.

DH is in Maryland trying to put people back in power, so our original plans of BBQ and fire works are bumped. Instead, we are going to an agility trial early in the day. We will play outdoors with pups and then come home and have dinner together.

This is going to sound very boring. I hope we can just stay home We have been on the go so much with baseball lately that staying home sounds good.

If we stay home dh will grill some burgers and the boys will probably play on the slip n slide. We might leave that night and go to the town fireworks display (just a couple miles from here). A very low key day.

Our neighborhood has been celebrating for a week now... Boom boom pretty much for a week. But tonight our cul de sac had the 4 th annualmBBQ and fire work display. No one caught anything on fire and the food was great... Even my brownie fruit pizza that exploded in the oven and filled the house with burnt brownie smoke. But that story is for another day... All I have to say is ... My husband said it looked like there was a war with the kitchen and I lost.

Tomorrow is my brothers 50th birthday , so we celebrate him and the U.S.A.

    Happy Independance day !
