Default week of Aug 6th - What are you Rowing?

We are rowing My Blue Boat. I was surprised when I finally got my hands on this book at the library, as it is so simple I couldn't imagine spending 5 days on it. BUT as I gather things together it looks like a really good week. Beyond the manual, we'll be doing a crayon resist water color, building and sailing an orange juice box boat, making a red solo cup lighthouse and doing some outside reading on boats and whales.
On the itinerary today, read, do tracking, and a little bit of lapbook. Tomorrow- Art!

Oh, this is such a fun book!!! You are right, it is simple and yet so many fun things to do!

We just did a co-op using Yellow Ball. Its another simple story with fun activities to go with it. I'm hoping to do some more activities with both of these books this month with my youngest. We haven't officially started school yet, but are having fun with some activities with friends this summer.

One fun thing I remember doing with my older kids and Blue Boat was to make a boat from a cardboard box and then create an ocean (blue sheet/blanket, ocean themed beanie babies, etc). We then acted out the story. I also remember making a "boat snack" using half of a hard boiled egg and then cutting a cheese slice into a triangle for a sail (using a toothpick to hold it onto the boat).

Hope you fun with this book!

What wonderful ideas! My little guy loves hard boiled eggs and cheese so the snack sounds like a perfect fit for him. Thanks!

Oh good. I wasn't sure about suggesting it as it is not a favorite of all little ones. So glad your will enjoy it. Have fun!
